Sakesta is a large but somewhat isolationist nation on the Eastern coast of the continent that has existed for at least a century and a half.
The people of Sakesta prize martial skill and strength, although generally in a less outright aggressive manner than those of Khymonia. They are a warrior people who are proud of their own strength to an extent that they do not feel a need to go out of their way to demonstrate it.
Most of the people of Sakesta devote a large amount of their time to training, although this often incorporates in various ways hunting, building shelter and other tasks necessary for the survival of the nation, especially as they do not really trade with other nations at all. Sparring is a common form of greeting, most disagreements are resolved via duelling and tournaments are frequently held as entertainment.
Outsider Description: Xenophobic hitty kitties
Sakfel is almost entire Rakfel. Members of other Genera are especially rare there.
Those of Sakesta have names which begin with a family name, followed by a letter in accordance with their gender identity, followed by a personal name, with the steps punctuated with apostrophes. The middle letters are: s (pronounced “sa”) for female, l (pronounced “la”) for male, w (pronounced “wa”) for those who identify with both or a third option, and n (pronounced “na”) for those who identify with no gender or refuse to specify.
Examples:
Sakesta is ruled by the strong - specifically whoever manages to emerge victorious in a special tournament held every two years. Consisting of various rounds which place emphasis on different physical attributes and abilities, the nations ultimate champion is granted command of the nation itself.
“Crimes” in Sakesta are few and far between - where there is a grievance between two parties for whatever reason, this is generally settled with a duel. The aggrieved party issues a challenge which must be met - the two parties will then negotiate a form the duel will take, whether others may be nominated to represent them, consequences for each side dependent on the outcome of the duel, etc. Then the duel takes place and the terms agreed upon are followed.
In cases where this process does not go to plan, eg. the challengee refuses the duel or believes that the grievance is false, the two sides cannot come to an agreement, or the agreed terms are not then followed, the nation's champion is brought in to act as an arbiter, although what to do about the situation is left entirely up to them. As the people of Sakesta tend to be proud and honourable and outsiders don't tend to stick aroun there for long this is a rare occurence.
Religion plays a minor role in Sakesta. They do not believe in gods, as such, but rather the divine potential of one's own personal power. As such, religion more takes the form of a particularly zen martial art with a view to bring forth the true potential in oneself and those around them.
